Honorary Colonel's of 266th [GVA] Bty R.H.A. [V] 1971 -2006.

 The rank of Honorary Colonel is as it says an honorary rank, all are ex high ranking officers of the army who use their influence and contacts within the army, to the betterment of the unit to which they are attached to. They act as a go between the unit, TAVRA and M.O.D., they also advise the unit on any problems that the unit may have.

The following have been appointed Deputy Lieutenants of the

County of Avon:

Brigadier Geoffrey William Hutton, O.StJ., B.A., Honor

Cottage, Failand Lane, Portbury, Bristol BS20 9SR.

The Commission were signed on 27th May 1989 which is

therefore the effective date of the appointment.

Unit title changed to RHA. sometime in the very late 1980's early 1990's? check date 

From independent status to  

266th Bty then joined 100 Regiment R.A. [V]  Honorary Colonel Maj General  A. S. Ritchie CBE.

[Regimented 1st July, 1999. from independent status]

On leaving 100 Regt, it became an independent unit once again. Dated
