Unit going to a church service?, in the Cathedral which is to the right in the picture, also there is some kind of structure on what, is the grass frontage of the Cathedral.
On the structure is what appears to be a oval shield with a crown on the apex, a saluting dais perhaps but know one is giving a eyes left.? it may be something like example below
B.D.U. or Battle Dress Uniform went out of service in the 1960's.
[notice the men are not wearing white Lanyards, but the L/Bdr is, see above photo, white plaited lanyards were introduce again in the 1950's for a short time]
